So we have a brand new cheese. It’s made from our very own Waituhi Kuratau Sheep milk. A traditional Manchego style of cheese with a smooth buttery flavour with a hint of cheddar and a creamy finish on the palate. The cheese is released from 3 months to 8 months of age. Children love it and for those people who can’t eat cow diary, this cheese offers an easy alternative.

So for the last month we have had it out for tasting and sale without a name. In fact it is called the" no name cheese". So we think it is about time we named it and we want your help. So name our no name cheese. The place we would like you to start is to make it a name that celebrates the region where the milk comes from. The sheep dairy farm situated is on the western side of lake Taupo. It is a Maori owned farm covering 2500 hectares, with native bush and a lake on the property called  Kuratau Lake. The farm is associated with whanau from Turangai/Tokaanu and Waihi. So it’s part of the most beautiful region in New Zealand and Tokaanu a place of geothermal activity and spectacular bush and streams. So go wild name our cheese and be into win a huge gift basket of the best cheese in the world (at least we think so).
